This initiative could be the foundation of a greater partnership between Viewbank Primary and Viewbank College. What an amazing opportunity for the entire community to benefit from. The future of emerging technologies such as voice biometrics, robotics and artificial intelligence needs to be recognised as short term / medium term goals. These initiatives give hope for long term opportunities and advances that we are still yet to see. How great that this is not only for students but the wider community. Please support both VPS and VC.

This project will build a makers’ space to share skills between Viewbank College and the local community, especially for primary school students. This will support community engagement with emerging technologies like 3D printing, robotics and VR/AR equipment that will form the foundations of future careers. We will provide training and experience to primary school students in emerging technologies like 3D printing ,VR/AR experiences and robotics; training to primary teachers to develop a shared experience to their students; and offer training to adult learners (parents and other members) in the new technologies, giving them an opportunity to up-skill in emerging technologies.
Many of the future careers for current primary school students will be built around the use of new and emerging technologies, and perhaps even ones not yet invented. This project aims to build an opportunity for a broad range of school community members to experience such technology using very hands-on lessons and experiences. This demonstrates the fun of playing with these technologies, and that with a little effort, they can quickly develop their own new creations. Indulging their interests in new technologies in the STEAM space, regardless of their age or previous level of knowledge.

Good luck with your entry . It will be a fantastic place. I am an elderly resident and love learning about new technology, I taught myself how to use a computer in the days when home computers were few and far between in the 1980’s and now at 72 I am so glad that I did. I use it for paying bills, online shopping, online classes, learning about new technology and many more things . I for one would love to be able to visit and see what the children are learning and to be able to have them teach me a few new things and to explain to me what they would be using these new inventions for in a work situation. Fantastic project.
