This project will build a makers’ space to share skills between Viewbank College and the local community, especially for primary school students. This will support community engagement with emerging technologies like 3D printing, robotics and VR/AR equipment that will form the foundations of future careers. We will provide training and experience to primary school students in emerging technologies like 3D printing ,VR/AR experiences and robotics; training to primary teachers to develop a shared experience to their students; and offer training to adult learners (parents and other members) in the new technologies, giving them an opportunity to up-skill in emerging technologies.
Many of the future careers for current primary school students will be built around the use of new and emerging technologies, and perhaps even ones not yet invented. This project aims to build an opportunity for a broad range of school community members to experience such technology using very hands-on lessons and experiences. This demonstrates the fun of playing with these technologies, and that with a little effort, they can quickly develop their own new creations. Indulging their interests in new technologies in the STEAM space, regardless of their age or previous level of knowledge.
