Because elderly people can be vulnerable and it’s important to educate them about cyber safety, not just to protect themselves, but also their families too.

Great project for the community and very important for the older members of our technology-reliant society!

My 80 year old mother was recently scammed for $7000. Thanks to checking with her bank, quick action was taken and all money returned to her. It was a very clever cover story about a problem with her computer and they logged on and emptied her bank account. I think this project is very worthy of funding as more and more seniors are becoming forced to rely on the cyber world for transactions. Great initiative. Good luck.

Thankyou to everyone who has taken the time and effort to comment and vote on this project. We hope that it will move forward and be implemented not only in the Mernda-Doreen community, but state-wide as well. Fighting cybercrime needs to be done in a holistic manner, involving all members of our community working together. This Pick My Project process has been the perfect platform to raise awareness of cybercrime and cyber scams, and it is now important to transform this awareness into action through the implementation of an educational process in the community. Thank-you.

With modern technology, scamming is become more common. Educating people, particulate the elderly, will enable them to be aware of potential scams and prevent them from becoming a victim of scamming. Great project idea!

Like others I have been scammed myself and I can't imagine what would happen if the elderly aren't aware of the potential threats. Amazing idea for educating them.

Elderly are the most vulnerable to cyber attacks, and with an aging population, education on technology must be readily and easily available.

THERE IS A TRANSLATION JUST STROLL TO THE BOTTOM :)

Translation: With modern day technology, there are many elderly people getting targeted by scammers online. These elderly people are easily targeted because they don’t have any knowledge on the messages they receive. If we teach the elderly how to spot out these scammers it will not only be beneficial to them but to everyone around them.

Helping the elderly that are most vulnerable to scammers is key to reducing the amount of money lost per year. Having a training program for the elderly it allows the them to be educated on cyber security.

Great initiative and well overdue. Elderly people are vulnerable to cyber scamming in our communities. It is imperative that we raise awareness of the risks and offer targeted training in a supportive environment for elderly people to improve their cyber safety and protect their financial and psychological wellbeing.

I think our elderly need to be protected and it is no doubt that education is the key.

More often than not older Australians have more money and accumulated wealth than younger people, making them an attractive target for a scammer. A brilliant program for all Australians, Victorian's and communities targeting using a holistic approach.

A great campaign, there is a clear gap in the educational sector in cybercrime and addressing victims in a first aid responding capacity. We should all have a vested interested towards early intervention in this arena
