Today’s senior citizens are yesterday’s protectors, nurturers and contributors to our community. Now it’s our turn to look after them and empower them to protect themselves against insidious scams. Jules considerable experience, and genuine care for others, is a great combination in achieving the programme goals.

The presentation was very informative and highlighted the safety we need to observe especially at our age. We may need to ask Jules back as I have heard more people would like to listen to her as they missed out. I would like to hear more on the scams and dealing with them. Well done Jules!

A very much needed project in the Doreen & Mernda area , after listening to Julie talk about how easy it is to be hacked and not even know .

The over 55s cohort is extremely vulnerable to cyber scams and needs a forum in which they can become informed about this debilitating yet increasing threat. An program such as this will provide both early intervention and psychological first aid that will help our seniors to protect not only their finances, but their emotional well-being as well. Partnering with LaTrobe University, Julie will bring passion and experience to this program that is backed by some of the countries experts in the area of cyber crime.

great project & very much needed . We initiated delivering govt internet awareness projects via State Library in 1996 & now there is requirement for the vulnerable to be educated in internet scams. My father suffered onset dementia & was being ripped by prize winners & grand kids chocolate offers on his doorsteps which obviously is proliferated on the net.

More awareness needs to be raised within the community especially amongst older members of it, about how to recognise a scam and what to do if they are unsure about something or if they have been scammed. This initiative would fill a gap in the programs that are currently available about cyber crime awareness and include members of the community who are often forgotten when discussing cyber crime. The program is being run by a highly experienced individual who would be able to connect well with the community members and address their concerns about online and other IT scams that are often affecting older individuals in the Victorian community.

A programme such as this will be of vital importance to the ever-increasing over 55's population in the Doreen/Mernda area, and indeed elsewhere as needed. This is a valuable initiative and must be supported.
