The Ballarat-Sebastopol BMX Club are proposing that the community BMX track, located at the Marty Bush Reserve, be fully sealed. This would be done by using a weatherproof and hard-wearing surface along the straights in conjunction with bitumen corners and improved drainage. In its current state the track is frequently unsafe and unusable, meaning that this amazing local asset is going to waste. The track is permanently open to the general public and with an all-weather surface it will be available for the whole community to enjoy all year round.

Currently the unsealed track is greatly affected by rain damage, which requires ongoing maintenance and regularly contributes to the cancelation of events and minimises the track’s availability.

Having a sealed all-weather BMX track will improve safety for riders and increase participation for the riding community of Sebastopol and the entire Central Highlands region.

BMX is an Olympic sport with membership across Australia on the rise. This would be the first fully surfaced track in Victoria, drawing professional riders to Ballarat from around Australia.

Please support our community by bringing a state of the art BMX track to Ballarat!

As a grandparent of one of the riders at the Ballarat Sebastopol BMX Club I really feel for the club when races are cancelled due to rain damage. This would greatly reduce maintenance, increase participation due to a reduction in canceled events and offer the community of Sebastopol a state of the art BMX facility. Fingers crossed!

Great project, great for children and cycling athletes to have the best training and racing facilities. Ballarat and Sebastopol cycling club has a heritage that has been growing and developing since 1896.
All weather surface will add tremendous value to this track that meets state requirements for BMX open championships!

The upgrade to the track has so many benefits, to be able to hold BMX open championships in Ballarat would be fantastic for the club and community.

BMX tracks can be difficult to maintained by many volunteer hours. For the safety of riders the track is the biggest priority. Having an easy to maintain track will reduce volunteer hours and less injuries. It will also increase membership and the ability to hold large event generating income into the rural regions. Goodluck Ballarat BMX Club.

Spot on Schafs. It would be fantastic to have one of the leading BMX tracks in Victoria which would attract larger events, more riders, more spectators, generating economic benefit to Ballarat businesses and community.
Thanks for the support.

The proposed upgrade to the track surface will ensure all year racing. Currently the track suffers from water washout during rain events.

Agree 100%, only two weeks ago we had to cancel a race meet due to track being soft and dangerous which was from one big 15 minute downpour.
