The Ballarat-Sebastopol BMX Club are proposing that the community BMX track, located at the Marty Bush Reserve, be fully sealed. This would be done by using a weatherproof and hard-wearing surface along the straights in conjunction with bitumen corners and improved drainage. In its current state the track is frequently unsafe and unusable, meaning that this amazing local asset is going to waste. The track is permanently open to the general public and with an all-weather surface it will be available for the whole community to enjoy all year round.
Currently the unsealed track is greatly affected by rain damage, which requires ongoing maintenance and regularly contributes to the cancelation of events and minimises the track’s availability.
Having a sealed all-weather BMX track will improve safety for riders and increase participation for the riding community of Sebastopol and the entire Central Highlands region.
BMX is an Olympic sport with membership across Australia on the rise. This would be the first fully surfaced track in Victoria, drawing professional riders to Ballarat from around Australia.

I would love to see a portal roof over whole area. Make cycling world class all year round for our youth and older people alike...
What a great idea, I only know of one track like that and its in Darwin. We wouldn't need to ever worry about rain if we had a roof then.

Excellent idea guys I remember riding this track 25 years ago well before it's state of the art upgrade. If this project goes ahead or not feel free to contact me about the asphalt and we'll see if we can help you out at all as we're a local contractor

Great idea getting the kids out and about with a safe all weather surface.
Kids/teens/adults in sport mean less kids/teens/adults looking for something to do as well as helping bring back face to face conversations!

What a great opportunity for the region to have a state of the art Bmx track open to the public that can be used all year round. Our family are new to Bmx and would love to see Ballarat be the first track in Victoria to be sealed. Jump onboard and support this proposal. Such a lovely club.
Hopefully families realise how wonderful the sport can be and jump on board with their voting.
This will be a wonderful thing for not only the Ballarat community but the greater central Holland’s region too!

These upgrades will take this already incredible club to the next level. It will make the riders more competive when travelling to other clubs that already have these surfaces and decrease the amount of volunteer hours required to maintain this great facility

Love to see this track become a all season track. This club has spent countless hour trying to maintain this track so the kids can ride on it, no matter what the weather conditions. Having it sealed, they would have a lot more kids joining there club and enjoying a fun but competitive outdoor activity.
We want to get more kids on bikes and off TV screens!

Would be great for the community and those who want to try BMX or who are currently competing. Would also allow use in the rain too and not stop people from using it. The kids love it and so do the adults who ride

Wow this project would be an amazing one to invest in. It would improve the track immensely and make it easy for all to get out and active all year round. Not only would it be good for our town and the bmx club but all that love to travel for bmx. Bring a lot more revenue to the town. And on a personal note I know I will have trouble getting my family off the track as they love bmx even though we are new to the sport.

My grand children race bmx and love it. I think this a fantastic sport for kids and encourage all improvements needed
