Having personally seen the benefits of driver education within the complex feel it needs to be expanded for the wider communities benefit.

To ensure a range of small and large communities had the opportunity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a regional partnership areas funding was awarded to one local government area (LGA). As a result this project was unsuccessful.

The State Government's new "Road Smart" program is a road safety education and training program designed to build on the existing road knowledge, skills and behaviours of Year 10 (or equivalent) students. The program aims to help lay down the foundations for safe driving among young drivers. To host the program, a hard-surfaced vehicle handling area that meets the program's guidelines is required. There is currently no such dedicated area available in the Geelong region. The Geelong Traffic Safety Centre (GTSC) is the obvious place to build one but the GTSC needs funds to do so.
Red P-plate drivers are twice as likely to have an accident as drivers with 4 or more years of experience. A greater awareness of road safety in our young drivers will help reduce the horror of road trauma currently experienced by too many of them. Year 10 students throughout the Geelong region will benefit from the State Government-funded "Road Smart" program if there is a suitable facility available to host the program. Established in 1983 by the State Government, the GTSC needs an injection of funds to improve its facilities to allow it to host the "Road Smart" program.

I am all for this great project to help our youth learn to drive in a safe, supportive environment.
So our youth can learn to drive in an environment that is safe. It will be a further step to making our roads much safer
It would be great to see the centre used as it was originally set up for.
Assisting our youth to be great drivers is a fantastic idea.
It would benefit Geelong and surrounding towns.
Hope it gets the votes.
A community project for the worthwhile of many!
Most important initiative considering increasing traffic on roads.
It is most important that all drivers have the chance to train for driving on our roads, particularly young people.
Geelong and it's regions being the largest population outside the metropolitan area needs to have a proper and adequate training area for use by it's population both young and old. The State Government, with it's emphasis on reducing the State's road toll should fund this project..
Teaching traffic and driving safety through an ongoing education program linked to local schools is a project that benefits the community and the individual. A great project.
A great project long overdue.
Much needed project
To help educate our youth in the community will assist in saving lifes
ANY THING THAT WILL HELP TO KEEP OUR ROADS AND YOUNG DRIVERS SAFE MUST BE WORTH WHILE
Practical on hand experience is the only way to give new drivers the knowledge and confidence they need.
Anything to help improve young driver education and road safety is to be supported
This is a great idea ,there is hardly anyone that ha sent been touched with road trauma
The more these young drivers know about how dangerous the roads are the better.
This venue is perfect for this..
school driver programs come and go, it is about time we all supported, and the Ministry of Education mandated, that all late teenagers should have some driving skills and awareness before hitting the road on their Ls
The traffic has increased over the years and I see the need for driver education for future generations.
Great project that could save young lives

Great initiative
An outstanding initiative well worthy of support
Well worth saving a life.
With the rising road toll the Geelong region needs a driver training facility to save young lives.
More people on our roads so quality driver/rider training essential.
It is a great initiative. Working for the TAC I see first hand the impacts of road accidents to the individual, family and community. Any opportunity for education, training and awareness can only benefit all.
With the rising road toll the Geelong region needs a driver training facility to save young lives.
