For over 30 years Faith Christian Church has operated a care arm “We Care Community Services Inc.” (WCCS) in the South Eastern Corridor of Melbourne. The basic idea was to collect and distribute, free of charge, clothing and basic foods for needy people. This has been immensely successful, thousands of people provided aid and encouragement through this charity. WCCS operates in a shed in Dandenong North, which is too small. We would like to enlarge it to enable growth. Our two vehicles are kept in a fenced compound beside the shed. It is constantly interfered with by intruders and damaged.
Having a larger shed will enable the expansion of our ability to provide free food and clothing for the needy. We would also like to pursue other avenues of service such as offering English and budgeting classes. Twice a year we hold ‘Helping Hand Days’ in which the needy in the community are invited to take what they need for their families, in Winter we focus on blankets and warm clothing.In December we focus on summer clothes and toys for children. Our volunteers are available on Mondays and Fridays to help community members referred to by Local Councils/Welfare Officers/families/friends.

I fully support WeCare Community Services, which makes a positive difference in the local community and supports and helps thousands of people in need from all walks of life with openness and without hidden agendas. This funding fir a larger shed will assist them to to so much more., allowing greater storage space for food, clothing, blankets and other items so needed by those in the community facing hardship at any given time. All items are given away free of charge. The current shed is too small to hold all the items donated by generous and kind people and businesses who partner with WeCare to reach the disadvantaged.

This community centre caters for Dandenong & Casey. Obviously it needs a larger capacity
