The Compost Depot

We plan to collect food waste from households for processing into compost at no cost. Food waste from businesses will be collected for a small fee to cover costs. We will, 1. hold regular workshops for different groups and demographics, 2. source a new location or multiple locations to expand our capacity to process more food waste, 3. target apartment dwellers to focus on their needs, purchase more bins and signage, 4. develop materials for workshops and evaluate participant feedback.

Currently most organic waste goes to landfill where it creates dangerous environmental gases.

Composting turns food waste into a resource for growing food and gardens.

We plan to employ long-term unemployed, asylum seekers and refugees, new migrants, younger people experiencing disadvantage, people facing discrimination, caregivers, under-employed workers amongst other skilled professionals to help us run the operation.

Profits made from the sale of finished/aged/mature compost will be used to run educational workshops for all members of the community to increase awareness.
