The Simpson Car Club Inc is solely run by volunteers. Upgrading of the lights require the existing lights to be removed, new brackets manufactured and new lights to be fitted to the existing light towers. New LED lighting will be powered by our existing diesel generator. Without these lights the Simpson car club would not be able to provide future speedway events and the existing 50+ volunteers that assist on a nightly basis would lose their social activities. The project will require the volunteers to work together to complete the required tasks to be successful.

The Simpson Car Club Inc holds Speedway events during the months of December through to April. Events are held at night where it allows for the community volunteers to assist in running events and allowing for the local community to gather to socialise. Currently the existing lights do not provide the correct amount of lighting to allow for the safe running of events. They are quite old and are running at lessthan 80% capacity. We have been advised by the electricians to urgently upgrade these lights. Without these operating lights and this upgrade, the club cannot continue into the future.

It would be such a shame to lose the speedway at Simpson, especially after all the hard work the volunteers have just done upgrading the walls.

The track is conveniently located adjacent to large areas of bushland and farming areas. As it is self sufficient in power and has catering facilities, it could easily be used as an emergency refuge or staging post in the event of a bushfire or other emergency.

It also holds a number of events that help with tourism in the local area.

This upgrade is needed as the current system is outdated and its it's a great club that deserves to be brought into the the new age. Upgraded lighting on the track would also make a big difference to the safety of competitors.
