Lentil As Anything (LAA) has started a food rescue program, 'Food Without Borders', and has since set up a pay-as-you-feel grocery store to offer the food it rescues to the community. 'The Inconvenience Store', based in the Thornbury LAA restaurant, stocks rescued food that is accessible to all. As a not-for-profit community organization, we often struggle to fund operational costs. We need to find new ways of running our new cooling/storage facilities, and solar-panels would significantly reduce electricity costs and enable us to continue serving wholesome and ethical food, while furthering LAA's community/environmentally-friendly mission.

The 'Inconvenience Store' provides ANYONE in the community access to produce, on the ‘pay-as-you-feel' model. This means that regardless of one's ability to pay, nutritious vegan food will be available to them. Our ongoing goals are: Opening our doors 7-days-a-week to the community; Making fruit and vegetables accessible to the 1 in 6 people experiencing food insecurity in the community (FoodBank, 2016); Having adequate refrigeration to rescue more food that would otherwise be sent to landfill; and the store being an educational hub to educate people on food waste, the environment, sustainable practices and conscious food consumption.
