To ensure a range of small and large communities had the opportunity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a regional partnership areas funding was awarded to one local government area (LGA). As a result this project was unsuccessful.

Sunraysia Hockey Association (SHA) currently has only one pitch available for four Hockey Clubs. The pitch is utilised 7 days a week with competition games being played Wednesday nights, Friday nights, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. Clubs train each night during the week as well as Sundays. Surrounding Schools also participate in inter-school games at the pitch. We have had huge success with our Junior Hook into Hockey program for school children in the last 5 years with many continuing to play.

The SHA currently is not able to accommodate our growing sport with only one Hockey pitch available. If we were are able to have a second pitch, we could expand the growth of Hockey and introduce new games such as J Ball into the Sunraysia community. Having two games played at once, brings more spectators to the grounds and enhances the family community feel that Hockey exudes. The under 11 players would be able to play on half pitches instead of current quarter pitches. Local schools could hold carnivals over one day instead of splitting and shortening games.

Second pitch would allow more kids to play a fantastic team sport, where whole families can be brought together as a community. My kids have loved making new friends on and off the field.

Sunraysia needs a 2nd pitch to accommodate a growing hockey community.

A much needed extra pitch would likely bring more participation as would give
more flexibility and allow more games to be played

Brilliant idea. Much needed and excellent for the economy of the region the ability to be able to host tournaments would go a long way to furthering the development of the Sunraysia Hockey Association.

If a second pitch was added I’m sure I’d play again; at present the game times are limited and don’t suit my work hours.

I would love to see a second pitch introduced to the Sunraysia area. Having played hockey in the area when I was a child and having a great family and social atmasphire with many games happening at the same time on the grass, I kind of miss that scene as there is only one pitch and games happening Friday evenings until past 10pm in the evening and then again all day Saturday and then again most of Sunday. Having a second pitch would also bring money into the area when we would be able to host country competitions bringing in many other teams and their families.

A much needed facility that will not only get kids involved in sport but keep those of us of advancing years active.

A second pitch would enable more games to be played. it’s quite rediculous teams playing after 10 pm due to insufficient field availability.

A second pitch would be a great asset to the region, and enable hockey to continue to grow in Sunraysia.

We need a second pitch, we have some excellent juniors and the current pitch is used all the time.

A second pitch would bring more money into the area with regional and state competitions. We also need to use an extra turf field with our growing number of juniors coming through the programs that we run. I am almost 60 and still play hockey each week - it is a sport that caters to every age group.

A second Hockey Pitch for Sunraysia is a must have, so that we can bring people from other Areas for future competitions.

Really need this to happen. There would already be multiple pitches if it was footy or basketball.

Hockey is a growing sport in Sunraysia. We need to accomodate it! There’s HEAPS of footy fields and ONE hockey pitch. We really need this!

Would be a great addition, will help the influence of hockey in the area and we would be able to host champions and more things like that. May also make more people would want to come and play.

If we want to continue to grow the sport of hockey within our community, we need a second pitch.

A second pitch is desperately needed to keep hockey going in Sunraysia. It's vital to keep a variety of sports available in regional Victoria.

The second pitch is needed to accomodate our ever growing population and to also encourage bigger and better championships held locally bringing more people to our beautiful city.

Absolutely necessary for the growth of the competition and encouraging young kids to participate in the sport.

Participants in the North West are greatly disadvantaged by a lack of training availability due to an entire league sharing one field. This was evident at junior country championships, where other leagues were astounded that sunraysia shares one field. No other hockey league in the state would have resources this limited
