To ensure a range of small and large communities had the opportunity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a regional partnership areas funding was awarded to one local government area (LGA). As a result this project was unsuccessful.

Sunraysia Hockey Association (SHA) currently has only one pitch available for four Hockey Clubs. The pitch is utilised 7 days a week with competition games being played Wednesday nights, Friday nights, all day Saturday and all day Sunday. Clubs train each night during the week as well as Sundays. Surrounding Schools also participate in inter-school games at the pitch. We have had huge success with our Junior Hook into Hockey program for school children in the last 5 years with many continuing to play.

The SHA currently is not able to accommodate our growing sport with only one Hockey pitch available. If we were are able to have a second pitch, we could expand the growth of Hockey and introduce new games such as J Ball into the Sunraysia community. Having two games played at once, brings more spectators to the grounds and enhances the family community feel that Hockey exudes. The under 11 players would be able to play on half pitches instead of current quarter pitches. Local schools could hold carnivals over one day instead of splitting and shortening games.

Be great for the region, I would consider coming out of retirement and playing for my favourite team Wanderers.

A second pitch will improve our local hockey competition and strengthen our position in regional, state and national competitions. It will bring stronger teams to the area, will generate a high level of game and in turn will have positive influence across the whole community.

A second pitch will enable growth of the Sunraysia Hockey competition. The current field is at capacity with club games/training and Games finishing as late as 11pm.
Representative teams training often displaces club games with them then having to be played on club training nights. With strong growth in junior grades the SHA is brining the joys of hockey to a new generation and needs to have the grounds to support these players in the future!

Please jump on board everyone and support this much needed project. A second court will enable more families to hook into hockey and relieve some of the burden currently faced by all involved. Support country Vic ;)

Great sport for all ages.
We need to encourage kids to stay active and be involved in team sports. A second pitch will mean more games and hopefully encourage hosting more events for the organisation.

A second pitch allows this great sport to grow and families to attend all games in one day.

A second pitch would definitely enhance the hockey association in Sunraysia, giving the opportunity to hold tournaments and bring more economy into the region.
