The SCAR Animal Hospital will become Hume’s first non-profit animal hospital, offering pet owners affordable/free health care for their animals. All proceeds will go towards Second Chance Animal Rescue to support homeless animals in the community. The Hospital will have a huge emphasis on pet ownership education and health care and offer medical treatments ranging from routine vaccinations and health checks, to diagnostics and special surgeries. We will offer customised training programs to the community, never turn away a sick animal and help keep pets in family homes by ensuring that any pet owner can afford healthcare for their animal.

Unemployment in Hume is 4% higher than the Melbourne's average.
3 in every 5 households own a pet which means a large number of families are struggling financially to care for their pets effectively. There are far too many animals needing to be rehomed or put down for financial reasons.
Hume needs a low cost/free hospital to care for their community animals.
This project will lead to less animals needing adoption due to our free desexing program and less animals being euthanised because owners can't afford the bills. Studies have shown pets make people happier, our community deserves this project

Great Community service, aids in reducing the number of unwanted litters to be rehomed, and assists those families facing financial challenges to care for their animals. Good luck to SCAR for all the work they have carried out so far, and best wishes for the future facility.

We need more resources like SCAR in our communities then there might be be so many ani MN als given up to shelters or just abandoned. Thankyou so much for the important work you all do for our furbabies. You deserve all the help you can get. Good luck.

I share the same sentiments with Sammij too. I lost my beloved Papillon Cross recently to kidney failure after 13 years. She was 1yo when I rescued her to be with her forever home. Despite her neglected past, she put it behind her and gave me her unconditional love. Even after losing her eyesight from her condition 2 years ago, she fought on and picked herself up, living and giving her best. She was my beloved furry companion and I will miss her dearly. The love and happiness she gave me will never be forgotten.

All the very best SCAR Hospital. You are doing such an amazing service to the community and our furry friends.

More resources like this are needed. Support for the community to keep animals healthy & at home with their loved ones is vital & a positive step in keeping animals out of shelters. Good luck SCAR!! ❤️🐶🐱

A worthwhile organisation saving so many animals and giving them a chance to find new homes and share the love with someone who truly cares and will look after them.

my beautiful little boy, passed away suddenly recently. he was my boy, my beloved fur son. he chose me to be his mother, his protector, his everything, and he was mine. we had a connection of spirit and soul and loved each other as mother and child. no matter what skin we held. not many ppl can understand how deep our connection was and how distraught i am without him.
Any way. I have still some of his food. do you need it. i was going to give it to my mum for her fur child. let me know.

Without Second Chance, these beautiful animals wouldn't have a second chance nor be in their forever homes. This animal hospital would give SCAR the chance to make sure every single animal gets the medical attention they deserve.

SCAR is an amazing organisation giving all animals a second and well-deserved chance at life. This grant would ensure that no animal gets turned away from the medical care they need.

I support this group due to the wonderful work they do. Limitless funding and volume of animals, they need support so do our animals.

People need pets, and pets need care, but veterinary care is very expensive, as is mental health. SCAR makes it easier for people to care for their pets properly, and the pets provide care for their people.

SCAR do amazing work. Would love to see them grow to include a vet. Their passion in helping and saving animal lives is comendable. This would benefit our area and community in a HUGE way.

This is the best idea for the western suburbs.
So many people now have pet that need to see a vet, and the animal suffers because they can't afford the vet bill.
