Currently the primary school oval is in a terrible state of repair that leads to the children & wider community not being able to use it for much of the year.
We have met with different independent consultants to develop a plan for the upgrade of the oval to a synthetic multi-sports surface of over 3,500m2 in size and provide a running track as well as marked out areas and infrastructure for soccer, tee-ball, football & netball.
The cost of the upgrade is $400,000 with the school able to contribute $200,000, the additional funding is hopefully coming from this grant.
With the upgrade to the all weather synthetic sporting surface, we would open up the oval to local sporting associations for their training needs (some of whom have already registered interest) and the broader community on weekends and after school during daylight hours.
It has already been identified that within our local community there is a lack of suitable sporting facilities and open spaces.
With “Health & Wellbeing” a priority of all communities, having sporting infrastructure that increases the outdoor physical activity of the current students of the school plus access for the broader community just makes sense.

How sad that an essential requirement for a school has to compete with 'nice to have' projects. The children have a large patch of dirt to play on. Wind brings dust and rain makes the oval unusable due to the mud it creates. Children then have to play in designated areas that become cramped. Our children deserve a place to run, place and socialise. Having to compete for such a necessity is unfathomable. Please consider our children and their need for a space to be physically active. The oval has been in this condition for far too long.
