Amazing school which runs an incredible dance and performing arts program despite the unbearable heat in the summer. Also used for assemblies almost daily. Would massively benefit from air con.

Our theatre accommodates the extensive College years, 7-12 Performing Arts program, along with providing access for Bayside community groups hosting events, including dance, drama and musical theatre. Our theatre lacks air conditioning. The enjoyment, and especially the health and safety for both performers and audience during summer performances is risked with temperatures exceeding safe levels - often reaching over 30 degrees. This can exclude members of the community from the very young, elderly and disabled during the heat. We will install air conditioning for the enjoyment, inclusion and, health and safety of all Bayside community members who use the theatre.
Seating audiences of 325 per performance, 110 events a year, entertaining over 35,000 Bayside community members plus the cast, crew and orchestra, Sandringham College is committed to including all Bayside community members. Enjoying performances in safe, climate-controlled comfort including the elderly, disabled or isolated. The focus on community access to the theatre attracts local groups including primary schools and local performing arts groups showcasing their events. Our project will install air conditioning controlling the climate for the community’s health, safety and ultimate enjoyment during summer performances, providing access and inclusion for all. Sandringham College is a very underfunded government school. Air conditioning in the Community Theatre will assist the progressive and talented performances so enjoyed by the pupils and audience alike.

A great little theatre, used by many and certainly needs air conditioning. My grandson come off stage burning hot because of no aircon and wearing only a T shirt on a freezing cold night, great way to get sick.

This is a basic amenity for all schools to have. The performers will wilt under stage lights as well. In summer, it'll be too hot and stuffy. Poor kids.

Both my children have been to Sandringham college and it never seems to get funding for anything, it’s the same as it was 40 yrs ago when friend of mine went there.

Incredibly talented student and committed staff... the school and local community will benefit immensely by air conditioning to this wonderful community space. Overall the school is terribly underfunded, but with such talented students, the space will be utilised even more to its full potential. There’s nothing in the area, quite like this space. Come on VIC Gov, grant this very important request for the growth of the school, the arts and the community in the area... it’ll be a win win for all.
