The track will be a mix of a ‘soft’ path on the Yarra River bank and a widening of River Road.

ALL residents and visitors will have access to a safe, engaging and educational track for their everyday walk to schools, shops, churches, public transport and recreation.
The track will engage people in to walking/running, socialising, making new friends, enjoying picnics and above all reconnecting with the Yarra River, nature and earth.
Schools will use it in their educational programs.
The track will also provide easier access to the river for paddling, swimming, canoeing, fishing etc.

This project is number one priority in the Millgrove Community Development Plan, acknowledged by Yarra Ranges Council.

The track will encourage the community to venture out and exercise/meditate/relax. It will create a safe walking space, providing better outcomes for physical, mental and emotional health.
Signage will serve to educate people about the Yarra River and its heritage. Churches will use the track for access to the river for Baptising Ceremonies.

Further stages planned:
Observation viewing deck;
Pedestrian extension to Dee Road Bridge, providing a safe crossing;
Creating a loop with the existing Dee Road Walking Track.

There is a short path on the south side of the river between Dee Bridge and the Highway, it's a wonderful place to have a quiet wind down after a stressful week and a credit to those who made and maintain it. A path on the North side would be wonderful and complete a bridge to bridge river circuit like they have in Warburton, great idea!

Currently there is no pathway next to the road so kids after school or during summer are walking on winding roads next to traffic. It's a miracale that no large incident has happened yet because you are unable to see around the bends and next to the road the land drops off. Creating the walking track that follows right next to the river would be so much safer!

I grew up in this area, and it used to be a great place to relax near the river. Unfortunately over time all the footpaths began to deteriorate, and it stopped becoming an appealing place to be. I'd love for the next generation to experience the same pleasure I had when I was growing up.

I would love to see a pedestrian only bridge half way between the bridges where the bank becomes more steep. This is a fantastic riverside area and one of the jewels of Millgrove. The walking track will be a great boon to Millgrove.

It about time before someone gets hurts or worse. It's a busy stretch for school children and walkers. And it's dangerous.

This will be a great asset for our local community. I am looking forward to not having to run / walk on the road. Would be great to extend the track all the way up to Dee road lookout. Unfortunately cars drive way to fast on our local roads!!

What an amazing asset this project could be, this community group is very enthusiastic and willing to further beautify Millgrove.The River Road Walk will be very surreal and will add the much needed safety for pedestrians

Very much needed for safety.
I hope this gets the votes, as the Millgrove community has been asking for this for over a decade.

Great to finally get a walking track around the river. Can we get some benches close to the river? I just like to sit there, listen and relax and let all the troubles go away. Thank you community group for what you do for us.
