The track will be a mix of a ‘soft’ path on the Yarra River bank and a widening of River Road.

ALL residents and visitors will have access to a safe, engaging and educational track for their everyday walk to schools, shops, churches, public transport and recreation.
The track will engage people in to walking/running, socialising, making new friends, enjoying picnics and above all reconnecting with the Yarra River, nature and earth.
Schools will use it in their educational programs.
The track will also provide easier access to the river for paddling, swimming, canoeing, fishing etc.

This project is number one priority in the Millgrove Community Development Plan, acknowledged by Yarra Ranges Council.

The track will encourage the community to venture out and exercise/meditate/relax. It will create a safe walking space, providing better outcomes for physical, mental and emotional health.
Signage will serve to educate people about the Yarra River and its heritage. Churches will use the track for access to the river for Baptising Ceremonies.

Further stages planned:
Observation viewing deck;
Pedestrian extension to Dee Road Bridge, providing a safe crossing;
Creating a loop with the existing Dee Road Walking Track.

A footpath/walking track along the River Road side of the Yarra and pedestrian access over Dee Road bridge is urgently needed for the safety of locals and school children walking to school. Personally for me, this is not about creating a tourist area in our village but keeping children and walkers safe, protecting the riverside from erosion and enhancing the beauty of Millgrove. A similar project has been completed along the Dee Road side of the Yarra RIver with impressive results and I fully support this project.

This is a great little country township the residents have all done a great job to make it look so bright with all the flowers in their gardens. And to have a lovely track to roam along the river would be a lovely. Keep up the good work Millgrove residents

This project is particularly important for the residents that live and work in the Millgrove area, like myself, for walking along the beautiful Yarra River for exercise and enjoyment. I am sure that a natural, safe and sensitive trail can be achieved to provide a wonderful community asset. At present we must walk along the narrow dusty road with vehicles, that can be dangerous. It about enhancing the beauty of the area for residents to use and not adversely changing it. Providing a modest track that is used more frequently will also hopefully deter some thoughtless people that treat River Rd, the river and embankments as a free rubbish tip, which is definitely an eye sore, adversely affecting the natural environment and adding pollution to the river. I fully support this exciting Project.

Its not about spoiling a beautiful place, its about opening it up for others to enjoy.

Stop trying to turn our towns into Tourist Areas. Yarra Ranges... seriously... the Warburton Bike Trail and now this. The Residents can hardly access their own towns on weekends and when they can they enjoy the tranquility if their homes.

Yarra Ranges Council your a disgrace... highest rates out of them all, roads that keep collapsing, irrelevant projects.... irrelevant!

We call to discuss a serious road incident on our street for two years now and am told the 5k project may not be built for 3-5 years... and all I asked for was a speed bump as tourists from the o shannessay trial on weekends speed in excess of 90km down the road and we have children on the road.... disgraceful... good job
.. build a 200k path for walkers and more tourists who do not give a damn about our the residents.

Maybe it's time we had a meeting as the people to discuss your outrages spending of our money.... we need an independant team on the outside... this is not good enough and many residents will fight.. we will that's for sure.

Oh and as for your pay on time rates... seriously?? Do you think we are that stupid? You only want people to do that so you can budget accordingly.... your weak prizes are a joke.

I will pay you the minimum to the cent per week. The most greedy... out of touch shire there is...

Jade the reality is that Warburton & surrounding areas are a tourist destination. Local businesses rely on visitors' custom and without those businesses we locals will have to travel further to access goods & services. I disagree when you say 'the residents can hardly access their own towns on weekends'. Certainly the cafes are very bus,y but I love seeing visitors enjoying the natural beauty and the artistic endeavour of our locals. Don't mix up your personal disappointment with your request to YVC for local improvements to protect your children with initiatives that will cater to a broader cross-section of the local area

Please leave our environment natural for the residents and the wildlife .
Don't create a man made I saw to attract too many tourists to spoil our peaceful environment .
YOU haven't asked the people who live here directly what they want .
Your actions are not wanted.

A quiet place, open to visitors, but essentially natures wonderland in the 'back yard' of the Millgrove community.

this would be fantastic if also continued up towards the dee road lookout, there is so many walkers that walk up there everyday. it is a dangerous single lane road i am just waiting for something horrible to happen, if this funding came through ide definitely love a walking path up to the lookout end of dee road.

Yes making Dee road safer for pedestrians would be great also!! We go up that road on foot at least once a week and it can get a bit hairy.
