McDonell Park is used by Northcote JFC, Dennis Cricket Club, Parkside FC, schools and the wider community. The footy and cricket clubs have been increasing the number of their female teams plus their overall membership but the poor facilities create limitations.
The second oval is not floodlit. Footy teams train in semi-darkness or lose out on training opportunities. The lack of floodlights means Northcote JFC cannot offer all the required training and it limits wider community use.
The project costs have been developed in consultation and from standard cost estimates but if higher than anticipated club reserves are available.

McDonell Park is an open area used by local footy and cricket teams offering concessionary rates and opportunities to anyone wanting to play.
The addition of floodlights enables more training, more teams and addresses safety concerns when children train during winter. It will also permit additional shared use with other sports clubs, such as Parkside JFC.
Northcote JFC has various initiatives to remove barriers to participation including a program with free membership, kit and transport. The floodlights will help this program offer more sessions and enable wider community use.
The project makes McDonell Park an even better community space.

I've trained the Under 9's on back oval for the last three seasons and its a real struggle to use the full ground when the lights only light up a very small section, very difficult when more than 50 kids are running around, it present a massive health & safety risk. Please support the facility upgrade.

Our son has played for NFJC since he could kick a footy and lighting has always been limited. This project will improve training conditions and safety during the cold and dark winter nights.

My daughter plays football here for the NJFC, as well as several of her male and other female friends. The lights are sorely needed as the kids cannot see what they are doing. There are also a lot of adults who use the park to walk their dogs or themselves around the ovals. The lights will help the kids, the community and the club.

This Club engages community programs like no other and always encourages and supports all kids of all standards to enjoy the spoils that sport offers......upgrading the lights is the least the club deserves.

Have been with NJFC for years, great club for juniors doing a lot for the community too. These lights will help so much to bring the club up a level in facilities supporting kids sporting development 👍

With the growth of girls football, we need a safe space for the girls to use, appropriate lighting is a must.

Can't wait to have more space for the players to run around in during the darker winter months. Love our grounds, club and community - we need to make the most out them!
