The Club committee have consulted with members and users of the facility including the Kew Amateur Football Club and believe this project to provide unisex change room facilities is of a high priority. Our project will provide change room upgrades. One quarter of the 3000 grounds across the country are capable of hosting women’s matches, an audit being carried out by the AFL suggests, and there are fears the current level of investment is not enough. Our club requires such investment to cater for the needs of our female players and coaches.

Our committee recognises the critical role of sport in contributing to the health and wellbeing of the community and provides significant investment into the provision of sporting facilities throughout the municipality with adequate unisex change room to facilitate for the growing number of female football players. There is a great opportunity for growth for female participation and having the correct facilities will add to an increase in participation by female participants. There is growth in female participation in historically male dominated sports. We believe this project will contribute to renew facilities and ensure increased support for female participation in football.

As a long term player for Kew junior and consequently senior club, I appreciate the role that the club played in my maturing and hope that the boys and girls of the club can get the facilities which they need for the same!

As a coach of a junior team at Kew Comets, I have witnessed first hand the extraordinary rise in the participation levels of girls in the club. There are smiles on faces and only positive comments made by the girls whenever you ask them how much they are enjoying playing football. This is a very worthwhile initiative which will allow the club to fully engage and cater for a sport which is growing on popularity at the club year-by-year

Knock down the Harriers Building and existing clubrooms and remove the car park adjacent and build a new super club area similar to below oval to enable viewing of both ovals with return verandah and decking. (See Ashburton facility at Burwood Reserve) Alternatively just knock down Harriers and add to existing clubrooms. Remove small carpark. Provide therefore separate change rooms for both genders and do a thorough job of it. Home teams can then make spaces their own with motivational posters or notices and stakeholders can have separate storage spaces. eg, girls, Auskick etc

My daughter plays for the Kew Comets and having the extra room for both male and females would benefit her team on match days.

This is a must to take all the girls in the area to the next level in the right environment

Based on the rapidly evolving participation in Australian rules football by girls, an investment in the existing club rooms to accommodate both males and females, is a most worthwhile investment for the community
