The all abilities playground will create a shaded, contoured, sensory space with a variety of surfaces, connected by a wheelchair accessible path, inviting a range of activities for all abilities and ages for local and visiting children including running, rolling, climbing, jumping - to connect and engage.
This exemplar playground will recognise broader community needs, allowing children who can’t access other playgrounds to have a play area to enjoy and is open to all who would like to use it, including a local church and language school that use the site, because the school has an open gate policy.
Over 1,000,000 Victorians live with disability. Creating accessible inclusive spaces aligns with the Victorian Government’s Absolutely Everyone: State Disability Action Plan 2017-2020 and City of Yarra’s Inclusion For All Strategy, while supporting Victoria’s transition to NDIS and celebrating children of all abilities.
CHPS passionately supports children with disabilities (National Disability Award for Excellence in Improving Educational Outcomes 2012 recipient). The proposed site is degraded, underutilised and inaccessible to wheelchairs. With limited options locally and scarce inner city space, we're collaborating with council, local community and disability experts to refine plans, maximising accessible play-space for all children to connect and engage.

Ensuring the visibility of diverse abilities within our community is really important - and designing it to celebrate it is essential - thank you! (And if I can be of any assistance, please let me know! Designer/architecture/interiors/urban design)...
All abilities playground for all children to participate regardless of disability. A brilliant, inclusive initiative.

Badly needed community project
Great project! Please support accessibility for all, students, parents, and carers.
A fantastic project for all the community- not just for the school children who attend the school. More accessible playgrounds are required in the area- brilliant initiative.
This would be an amazing project making a playground accessible to children of all abilities.
What a fantastic initiative! Accessible playgrounds for children of all abilities should be standard in our community - can't wait to see this happen.

What a great project-fantastic initiative for both the school and the local community.
So important for children of all abilities to have the same access to space that other children have.
