Here at Gladstone Park Secondary College we are focused on creating learning programs that teach students about the need for sustainability in the modern world. The Agricultural Centre will be a learning hub, where students and the wider community will be given practical, hands-on experience in areas such as horticulture, agriculture and sustainability. We want to expand our existing vegetable garden, install an aquaponics system, chicken pen, reptile house, bee hives, fruit trees, indigenous shrubs, storage shed and outdoor classroom/laboratory for use by the school community and our partners such as local primary schools and La Tobe University.

Senior students will have access to VETis subjects, while Years 7 to 12 science students will use the agriculture centre to study biology, chemistry, physical and earth sciences.
VCAL students and staff would maintain the centre and sell produce from the centre to the school and wider community.
We currently run a science program for the local primary schools and would extend this to include activities in the centre. We are involved with the Latrobe University Unibridges program and would work in partnership with university staff and students to plan and implement the required improvements to our centre.

What a creative way to learn! Fantastic idea! As a parent and student, I am significantly proud of this school! In 5 years time, my kids will be able to enter this college and I cannot wait to be in the same class as them! Staying back has its benefits, and year 12 just gets better every year! I hope this wins!

The Agricultural Center would be a fantastic addition to the facilities of Gladstone Park SC. It would benefit the students, flora and fauna alike. What a great idea to incorporate knowledge of vegetation and general schooling into one!

I met 2 delightful ,well mannered young men at the Gladstone Park Shopping Centre promoting their project. What people skills . This was yesterday at lunchtime. I encouraged my friends to vote for their project which they did. I was offered a biscuit and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks boys you are truly an asset to your school XXXXX

I believe this project will give the students a different appreciation for agriculture and healthy foods. Also showing them how much effort is required to grow produce and to be able to reap the rewards of their labours. A great idea!

This is a great initiative to enable children to connect with nature and not take our food for granted, as well as learning valuable life skills. Gardening and growing our own food is very good for mental health too.

This is such an important project for our younger folk. It is important to keep teenagers active learning life skills that slowly are being lost by our fast paced society. I totally recommend this project.

Children need nature, to many of them sit in a box (house) all day. Nature helps to calm and relax students. Helps them think outside of the box and explore.

As a parent and a teacher I strongly do believe students must be more familiar with nature and environment to respect it and keep it nicely for next generation.
