The Domeney Reserve, Park Orchards facility does not provide space, facilities or equipment suitable to be used for dinners & social functions that are sought by the local community and sporting clubs including:- - Park Orchards Football Netball Club - Park Orchards North Ringwood Parish Junior Football Club (combined referred to as the "Sharks") - Park Orchards Cricket Club The Sharks are the largest Australian Rules football club in Manningham City Council and also the local area with a combined 2,000 players & members. The project proposed is to expand on the social space area at Domeney Reserve.
The community of Park Orchards is a thriving hub of schools (2 primary schools) and community involvement in recreation & sport with large basketball, netball and football clubs for juniors & seniors. With a country feel the community engages in both sport and local community events.
There is a distinct lack of community facilities and areas available to hold functions. Facilities previously available are no longer so, or not suitable. Such as:-
- Park Orchards Chalet was sold off to private enterprise to develop as an aged care facility.
- Other rooms at Domeney are not suited for social functions.

The facilities are in urgent need of an upgrade
Definitely needs improvement and upgrade
The participants and spectators at Domeney Reserve need a better space for community events. The sports clubs ( football / cricket / netball ) are a vital community link and this project can and will further enhance the great community spirit evident in Park Orchards and surrounding suburbs. Peter.
Domeney is the cultural head quarters for Park Orchards and the space provided is unfortunately just not up to it!
Desperately needed, especially for female change facilities
We ask you to consider this project as the rooms are just not up to an acceptable standard, it’s quite uncomfortable for everyone.
Any visit while the facility is being utilised, picking any day or night of a week will display the complex is greatly appreciated though not adequate for the sporting , health and education growth.
Much needed improvements / facilities for a very well run community based organisation for all generations & genders
This place needs an upgrade! FIX IT NOW
This is an important development for the area. The obvious need is for the sporting clubs who use this facility year-around, continue to achieve strong results and enjoy junior membership growth as a result. Improvements are also needed to cater for the fast-growing participation in female sports. Just as important in my mind is the community benefit. The number of areas available for community gatherings, school events, not-for-profit groups continues to shrink as the area becomes more heavily developed, and the location of Domeny Reserve seems ideal for the development of a community hub.
Domeney Reserve is well overdue for an upgrade due to expanding members of the football and cricket club, the change rooms too small for 11 cricketers with bags.
We have a great sporting ground at Domeney Reserve but the pavilion is woefully inadequate for the community, especially the rapidly expanding sporting clubs. The change rooms are not suitable for senior teams or for female teams and the social rooms are also too cramped.
Expansion needed to a much used area by the local community
Domeney Reserve is in a fantastic location for the local community but the building and facilities is long overdue for an upgrade - existing facilities do not cater adequately for the growth in girls & women playing Australia Rules football.
Defintely needs the upgrade. Great club who does a lot for the community.
Expansion definitely needed to better suit the whole community with all the clubs who use it! Along with that, more females are using the space, changes need to be made, being greeted by a urinal first going into the change rooms is not ideal, change is needed desperately
These tiny change rooms are completely inadequate in this day and age. They are too small for juniors let alone seniors, provide no privacy for girls, no public facilities, insufficient cubicles for girls teams and furthermore you are greeted by old, decrepit and EXPOSED urinals as you walk in the door.
Urgent upgrade required!!!
This development is desperately needed.
Change rooms are far too small for the junior players let alone seniors. There needs to be an urgent upgrade to provide acceptable facilities for both Male and Female players. These club rooms and facilities are used considerably buy a vibrant and growing club and in their present state are well past there use by date. This needs to be a priority!
My daughter plays football for "sharks" and we are unable to hold functions at the centre as there is not the space. Also with more girls and next year a senior women's team entering the league the current facilities need to be upgraded. There is only one toilet cubical in the home and away change rooms.
This development is desperately needed. To walk into a change room and be greeted by a urinal in the doorway for everyone to see is completely INAPPROPRIATE!! Change rooms are far too small for the junior players. I can't imagine how difficult it must be for the senior players to use these change rooms. There also needs to be an upgraded to move with the times...Female facilities are urgently required. These clubrooms and facilities are used considerably and the clubs are growing. This needs to be a priority!
Great sporting clubs that would benefit with an upgrade of facilities. Change rooms to cater for the growing number of youth girls joining the football club is essential.
Domeney Reserve is not just a sporting hub but a social centre for the local community. Move with the times and upgrade multi purpose and club facilities for both males and females. Win win. 👍💫
