The project is for the installation of water proof shelter (shade sail/s), sheltered seating, community storage space, line-marking of an additional basketball/netball court and landscaping around the outdoor sports courts within the Elwood College grounds. The courts were installed as part of the school redevelopment however, the amenity around them remains unfinished. It is understood that any additional works will be limited because the school has very limited funds. The courts are an important community facility that are used extensively after hours. Local netball and basketball groups that use the facility after hours need access to storage and shelter.
Landscaping, storage and shelter at the courts will give local groups such as the Caulfield South Netball Club (over 140 CSNC girls live in the Elwood College area), Elwood Basketball Club and Elwood College Basketball Academy with an Elwood Home base for their training activities. The courts are also used extensively by local young people/community as a place to meet, chat and throw the ball around.
There are only 4 outdoor sports courts - important training venues for local netball, basketball in the Elwood area – one each at Elwood and St. Columba Primary Schools and two at Elwood College.

we need more active/sport space in Elwood! keep our kids healthy and active!
Extra resources definitely needed for netball.
Love Love Love the community investment of active spaces that have a beautification element for the local community.
The development of these facilities and amenities will be of huge benefit to both the local community and the school community as Elwood Colleges ground are used for a huge array of school and community after hours activities.
Importantly, these projects are important components of Elwood College’s overall vision for a fully re-developed school that will be not only a great local school, but a fantastic local sport, arts and community precinct.
Great. Young people need better and more facilities like this to encourage outdoor and community activity.

Local sports clubs the Elwood Basketball club and the Caulfield South Netball club have hundreds of local members and this will benefit them as well as community members who use the courts after work and on the weekends.
