Backstage facilities are lacking at the CCT. There are only two toilets, neither suitable for participants with accessibility requirements, located within two, small dedicated dressing-rooms. Performers for larger productions use the Cranbourne Secondary College drama/dance studio and adjacent classrooms for changing purposes. New dedicated dressing-rooms would allow participants with special needs full participation in productions. Currently they are significantly inconvenienced or denied access to facilities taken for granted by others. Over thirty groups use the CCT annually including a dance competition involving 1500 performances across four weekends, seven musical theatre seasons, a concert band festival and five weekend calisthenics competitions.

Operating for sixteen years, the CCT desperately needs improvements backstage. All hirers, including theatre companies, primary/secondary schools, performing arts groups, calisthenics and dance schools, would benefit greatly from additional space backstage. Reducing the need to use class-rooms as dressing-rooms would ensure volunteers don't have to spend additional time moving furniture. These two medium sized dressing-rooms would allow for additional toilets backstage and also include a fully accessible toilet for the audience. Due to location, the dressing-rooms will take over the existing gym change-rooms and toilets. These will be replaced as part of the project, benefiting local sports clubs training there.

This is a very worthwhile proposal which will enable a much-loved and used community facility to be accessed even more readily by many.
