What a great idea especially as it is open to all local families after school hours. Inner city kids need healthy physical activities as there are fewer forested areas locally where kids can let off steam.

The current playground situated in the Junior School at Malvern Central School is extremely old and dated and needs replacing. In consultation with our community, we would like to create a unique play space that is inspired from nature offering fun, interactive equipment and vegetation and play features to encourage sensory, active, cognitive and passive play. Features include timber equipment for climbing, swinging and balancing, a cubby house for imaginative play, a dry creek bed for natural exploration, a sand pit for building, digging and creating and shrubs and trees with pathways and seating.
Our playground is accessed by the community during and outside of school hours. Most weekends the playground is home to many young families, children and toddlers. There are very few playgrounds within a 5 km radius in this area, therefore the school is a strong drawcard for our local community and we provide and encourage full access and usage of our facilities.

I live nearby with 4 children and for a gorgeous green suburb - all we have nearby is a tired tiny playground in Central Park which baffles given the fabulous large open space of the park enjoyed by dog walkers and sports enthusiasts. There is a fenced playground next to the maternal health centre for under 6 year olds but we most definitely have a gap when it comes to playgrounds within a 2.km radius. What splendid idea. Our school community will ensure it is well maintained and taken care of and how wonderful to have a modern interactive playground for all of our young residents age 5 to 15 - including the many residents of flats and units in our surrounding streets. The location proposed is adjacent a fabulous open park suitable for picnics and will ensure the Spring Road gardens is a place to come for every age group.
