The current playground situated in the Junior School at Malvern Central School is extremely old and dated and needs replacing. In consultation with our community, we would like to create a unique play space that is inspired from nature offering fun, interactive equipment and vegetation and play features to encourage sensory, active, cognitive and passive play. Features include timber equipment for climbing, swinging and balancing, a cubby house for imaginative play, a dry creek bed for natural exploration, a sand pit for building, digging and creating and shrubs and trees with pathways and seating.
Our playground is accessed by the community during and outside of school hours. Most weekends the playground is home to many young families, children and toddlers. There are very few playgrounds within a 5 km radius in this area, therefore the school is a strong drawcard for our local community and we provide and encourage full access and usage of our facilities.

Good to see a natural and more open ended choice of ‘equipment’ ... discovery, role play, balance, upper body strength and encouraging collaborative play.
Great that the whole communty’s well-being is taken in to account. Let’s hope some plants, fliers, bugs and birds come and play too 🌈

Malvern Central School is a fantastic primary school located between Malvern Gardens. The schools hasn’t had updates to the playground which is now old and dated. This project will give the school a fresh look and an interesting area for kids to play. The school playgrounds are accessible to the whole community during non school hours therefore it will benefit all kids living in the area.
