Asking for an oval is not enough. This school is a temporary school. It resembles more a refugee detention centre than a school with no fewer than 11 temporary classrooms. Money needs to be set aside in the next Victorian budget for its total redevelopment.

Bell Primary School is a large and growing primary school with 535 students in West Preston. The school has a large open space that is in disrepair and poorly utilised. This project will convert the open space into a quality community sports oval, including installation of a synthetic four lane running track surrounding a 2400 square metre turf infield. The new oval will have good drainage to enable year round use. The oval will provide urgently needed sporting infrastructure for the school, local sports clubs and the community.
Installing the oval will allow Bell PS to enter an arrangement with the Darebin Falcons, a prominent local club that offer sporting opportunities for women and girls. The Falcons will use the facility for soccer clinics and training to support their rapidly growing membership, including over summer when the Falcons don't have access to other training facilities. The oval will provide a quality facility for the school physical education program, enabling the school to host other local schools for sporting competition. Other community groups will also be able to access the oval, and it will be open to the public.

Fabulous asset for local older kids as well as primary school students
I strongly support this much need project benefitting not only the school but the wider local community.
This is a great project. Long overdue.
This is a desperately needed upgrade for our school, not only for bell but for the Darbin falcons and and any other sporting/community club in the area .
really important project. a space everyone uses.
Children of the future would thank you
Much needed and long awaited project that would benefit both School students and Darebin Falcons members. An effective partnership with a shared ethos of encouraging young people to do their best. This project is my top pick!
An important project to promote a healthy community at Bell Primary school and the surrounding community.
A long awaited need for the School and the local community. This would add value, and make a great impact the physical and mental health of those that get to use it.
This is so important for the huge number of kids and young families in the area
Will there be AFL goals?
Upgrading the sports oval is an important project that will encourage our young (and not so young) people to participate in sporting and community events.
Fantastic project. Much needed for the school and our community is crying out for a place like this to come together.
With access to quality sporting infrastructure in high demand throughout Darebin, this project is critical for both the school and broader community. The Falcons and Bell Primary are awesome, inclusive communities and this project will help to further build and strengthen their community ties.
This would be a great addition to both the school and the community
A great fit for the location and keeping our community's kids active. Thoroughly supported!
This will defiantly make a big difference to our community.
This project is so needed. We simply do not have enough space and sport facilities. The Falcons, Bell Primary and the community need this sports ground
Great space for a place for the community to participate in sport.
The children at Bell Primary and the broader community really need this quality place for play and sport
We need a more active community and that means more places to run and play.
We need quality open space and community sporting facilities more than ever - a great project.
As a previous student, 3xOlympian and 2xCommonwealth Games medalist with a nephew and soon my son attending the school it’d be fantastic to have such amazing facilities at the school. There’s no denying the benefit sport has on kids academically and through confidence and self esteem improvements. I’m living proof of that! Get behind this amazing project.

An upgrade to the school to provide for a sporting facility for adult women is so what the children being educated on this site don't need. It is bursting at the seams, and with the rapid development of high density housing in neighbouring streets will continue to grow. The site needs to be completely redeveloped for the needs of children in the 21st century and beyond. If that includes improved sporting facilities so much the better.
