All existing user groups and the general public will have access to the new lighting. Improved lighting from 56 lux to 100 lux will allow better scheduling of fixture football and cricket games. The growth in participation is pushing competitions to utilise grounds for weekday and night time fixtures. The use of lighting improves ground use, increases safety of training under competition lighting and assists in evening out the wear and tear on the ground. Current training wear of ground is confined to areas with safe lighting, so some parts of the ground wear more than others.
The current oval lighting is 56 lux and it is not suitable for night football and cricket matches. Community sport is now regularly played at night. With the expected growth in teams of the tenant clubs, increasing the capacity of the oval to train and fixture at night will become a necessity over time and will increase the carrying capacity of Alexandra Park allowing the sporting user groups to cater for known increased participation.

Needs an upgrade for the community
This project would be of benefit to all members of the Community young and old .
What a great boost to giving Kids a better chance
An important upgrade to our sporting facility for our kids, the club and the community as a whole
A facility used by so many with growing numbers and an increasing population. The addition of lights would enable the club to allow for night games and make training in the evenings safer for all players.
Needed for our kids, the club and the community as a whole!
Really required based on the amount of shared usage compared to other grounds in the area.
With the advent of female junior and senior football this is a must to help everyone get the chance to train and compete fairly.
Used a lot across a lot of age groups...
The improved lighting will enable a lot more young people to be involved in sport
Improved lighting will enable better utilization of this much loved facility by enabling many games, including women's football, to be played at night. It is quiet incredible that this major sporting venue does not have lighting to an acceptable standard.
Much needed for an expanding club.
Would be great for the facility, all the teams that use the club and ultimately the Mornington Community as a whole. By providing the ability for games to be played at nights it would enable more utilisation of the field, and bring more people into the Mornington precinct which in turn generates jobs. Win Win for everyone
With 2 women’s teams , it would be great to be able to have the girls play after the men under lights
Great project, much needed in the community.
Definitely need these for the sporting club community
We need it for safety of all people training especially through winter
Brings the ground up to acceptable standards for local clubs and participants
Great idea this will ease the load and enable all teams to play & tain
With more and more girls teams, being able to use the existing grounds at night makes a lot more sense!
This is a great concept and will really promote greater utilisation of the facilities, particularly for the junior program. Increased access for the broader group of participants - a win/win for everyone!
Definitely needed
Safety!!
What a wonderful idea and a great thing for our wonderful suburb. Let’s all get behind this initiative. Go Mornington.

With the return of the mornington junior football club the facilities available require upgrades for the amazing growth of the club in such short time. Alexandra park in the heart of mornington requires upgrades to bring safer training for all players and the opportunity for night games. My son loves to play and also loves to go and support the seniors on the weekends. Why not at night games too??
