The Cobden Airport needs a dedicated concrete helipad. The newest Air Ambulance helicopter is now larger with wheels . The helicopter was landing at the local football grounds but due to not having skids it has sunk into the ground. The Airfield in Cobden has a sealed runway and pilot activated lighting . The current landing area for the helicopters is gravel and needs to be upgraded to concrete for all year round access with no dust or soft ground. This area has road ambulance access but is locked and secure from the public and keeping all aviation together.

The local community has raised over $90,000 towards the Cobden Airfield in the last ten years so that Ambulance Victoria can access our area via fixed wing or helicopter. With the helicopter use increasing in the past few years a dedicated helipad has been on the wish list for the local community. Football Grounds have become too wet and not very private for the patient or family's concerned. The Cobden Airfield is a secure and safe area for the helicopter to land 24/7 , has road Ambulance access and lighting. A dedicated Helipad would serve the community well.

This facility would service a very large area, where there are no trauma facilities and a lot of tourists. Would hopefully save peoples lives

In times of emergency such as the recent fires and also for medical evacuations a safe hard standing helipad is essential to the safe operation of this much needed resource.

This is a project that will be of great value to the local community. The ambulance helicopters are a life saving asset and need a proper hard standing area to prevent dust and flying gravel stirred up in dry times and mud and dirt in winter. A very important measure to protect these very expensive aircraft as well as benefiting personnel and patients. A ‘no maintenance’ asset that can last for a very long time.

This pad will give 365 days per year of emergency service access to the Cobden region. Health is important to all of us which is why this is such an important project.
