Tick-bites are an increasing danger for all Australians resulting in debilitating symptoms, severe pain, marriage breakdowns, financial ruin and a number of suicides every year. TICNA volunteers will present "Tick Talks" to community groups to alert our fellow Australians to the dangers of Tick-borne disease.

Victorian communities have not been told of the escalating incidence of tick-borne diseases in our communities. They result in devastating systems and great deterioration in quality of life. This not only affects the patient but all family members. We intend to make people aware of the dangers and try to prevent our fellow Australians from contracting this disease.

This is an important project focusing on prevention by informing the public about ticks and how to remove them, otherwise it may leave them with a lifetime of chronic illness. Other groups are dealing with the victims and supporting them along their journey as one example.
Good luck to this group in making this information known... particularly as we get into the warmer months when more outdoor activity occurres.

Prevention is critical for all who are bitten by a tick.... this group is on about informing people how to be aware, take cautionary measures and if bitten, recognize a tick, remove it properly and then get some medical help ASAP.
They need moneys to advertise and make this information known. IF your get bitten and don't take proper action you will likely have this chronic debilitating disease for all the years to come! .... this is not any form of a joke .... talking to victims of a tick bite who did not know how to remove it properly often talk about the past 1-~ 30 years with the disease and doctors are afraid to manage these patients.

An awful illness that needs further research, better testing and more timely treatment before the bugs get into the brain and cns

This disease needs attention to prevent further suffering and of all the projects; this project would provide a safer future for all Australians.

A most important project. The lives of those who suffer are totally isolating. Friends and often family are often long gone as they cannot participate in their lives. Its a condition that many dont even believe exists

This is a very important project to help Australians be aware of the ramifications that can come from a tick bite. It also helps with how to protect yourself and tic removal.
If bitten by a tic it could cause great pain and anguish to those bitten and family and friends. So many health problems.

My garden is full of very tiny ticks. I have a bite from them almost all year long.

Sadly such infections can be very debilitating, and yet largely ignored by the medical systems. The costs to the people of Australia is enormous.
Since these infections are associated with MS, Alzheimer's Disease, Arthritis, Motor Neurone Disease, stroke, heart attacks and many more then it is very important that the general public be made aware of them, and also urgent research should be done on treatment protocols.
