Make a short film to be shown on the big screen about and with your community! Show off who you are and you get to find out about the others around you! This project will facilitate six (6) skills-sharing mentorships connecting experienced filmmakers to help community groups or socio-cultural organisations to help you create short (5 minutes max) creative films about yourselves. The films will then be screened in the Sunshine Short Film Festival and can win prizes from a $10,000 prize pool (great fundraiser!) Entry restricted to groups located in the Western Suburbs (Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong, Melton, Wyndham).

The Sunshine Film Festival wants to inspire people to find something optimistic and positive about their lives, tell a story about it and see it on the big screen. The Mentorship project offers the community an opportunity to shatter stereotypical perceptions. Films made by the community for the community allow stories that would not otherwise be told allows characters from different ethnicities, of different levels of ability, from a variety of genders and sexual orientations in the very diverse communities of the Western Region to have control over the construction of our stories and how we are seen.
