Yarra Glen Station is an important community heritage asset. The station building was recently restored with great support from the local community however the external site is unfinished, negatively impacting the amenity of this site and preventing disability access and community use of this space. This project will provide disability access to the platform area, increased amenity through the community floral garden, heritage fencing and signage. This project will transform this underutilized site into a vital link for pedestrians and cyclists, linking pathways from the township, football oval and billabong to the future rail trail and tourist railway.
This project will make the heritage Yarra Glen Station precinct accessible to all. Multiple community groups have been involved in the planning of the floral garden and associated heritage platform fencing and signage which will increase the amenity of this site and provide a final vital link between the existing and future walking and cycling pathways. The provision of disability access to the station platform will ensure all community members can access the future rail trail and tourist railway.
