Yard Stars is an initiative networking together all the community gardens in the local area of Darebin. We ask local gardeners keen to volunteer their time and skills to hold volunteer based working bees in local residents' private gardens or community spaces, hoping to spread the knowledge to local people in their homes as well as the community spaces. Meanwhile training up local, eager volunteers who want to know more. This provides an ongoing link between all gardens bringing the community even closer . We can provide volunteers for Yarra clean up projects and other initiatives in the area also

We’re looking to hold small tutorials throughout the working bees , held by local gardeners and professionals, teaching skills and techniques to use in your own gardens at home. Enriching the knowledge base and giving people a platform to spread their skills .
Traveling throughout the region is vital as networking between community gardens means we don’t exhaust one garden's excess stock and also enrich the connections between each garden, bring the community closer together .
Focusing on training gives people without any experience a chance to cut their teeth and give back to their community whilst doing so.
