Werribee Fire Brigade has a long history using the water tower to fill fire trucks during 1950’s 60’s 70’s which aided in the protection of the Werribee area .A mural of a early fire captain or truck would look great.

The project will transform a disused concrete water tower, located at 1 Tower Road Werribee and built in 1913, into a giant artwork by painting a mural on its surface. The theme of the artwork will highlight the historical significance of the water tower to the local community and to its development of Werribee and surrounds. The water tower has great public visibility, acts as a gateway to the Wyndham city and has the potential to become a significant artistic and tourist landmark. Confirmed project partners: Arts Assist; Southern Rural Water.
This community art project will: help make Wyndham a vibrant, creative and engaging place; celebrate the heritage and local significance of the water tower and the important role it played in the growth of the local township; contribute to the image of Wyndham as a great place to live, work, recreate and visit; increase tourism to Werribee; and it has the potential to become part of a water tower art trail throughout Wyndham.

Hi Judy. We need funding first, and then we can make this project idea a reality. If we are successful, the project will include community consultation to determine the artwork theme. Fingers crossed!

It will revitalise the Water Tower and make it a positive talking point when entering Wyndham. I think it could inspire other communities to do the same in rejuvenating their towns.

Thanks for your vote Jan, as well as kind words! Do share and spread the word. All the best
Having recently visited some of the Silo-Murals there is nothing more suitable and aesthetically/artistically relevant than beautifying such a concrete structure by extending its core technical purpose into becoming a signifier for the community it is located in. Moreover, it's another great opportunity for artistic work to be made visible to the wider community as part of their environment which is in line with the mission statement of our local community arts organisation Wyndham Art Works.
Thank you for your support Wyndham Arts Works! We agree! All the best
