Wurundjeri Council, through various partnerships has access to land where it will grow native bush foods. This production will be supplemented by use of the Council’s own land in Healesville. The business will start with harvesting and selling raw bush foods directly to a variety of restaurants and product manufacturers to establish the business and generate cash flow. Through a partnership with Charcoal Lane Restaurant, engagement of their indigenous trainees, and use of their industrial kitchens, Wurundjeri Council will start to develop a range of native bush food products for sale

This project will benefit the local Wurundjeri and broader indigenous community, providing culturally relevant employment and training opportunities, and creating a profit-generating arm for the business. The project will also lead to the traditional owners developing of a range of commercial bush food products which will promote Australia's native plants and bush foods both locally, nationally and possibly even internationally.
It also gives the general population access to traditional bush food products developed by a culturally relevant supplier

This project is a unique opportunity which will culturally enrich this heritage precinct. It acknowledges first owners in a meaningful way, affords a greater understanding of the human history of this area, and will complement understandings of land management which is such an important aspect of cultivating food.
The benefits will be extremely wide reaching and ongoing.
