Woodvale is a small rural community - the publication of a researched and oral history from 1840's - 2018 will strengthen past and present residents' appreciation and knowledge before it is lost, building a stronger community. 38 plaques will be erected at historical sites as identified in the book and as Stage 2 Woodvale Historical Trail Project. A website will include extra photos and information. All the residents will be invited to the launch and a community engagement day with a historical bus tour & information brochure . This will strengthen community connections in Woodvale.

The Woodvale community needs a celebratory project to strengthen our identity. For many years we have worked tirelessly to ensure that our rural environment is safe by rehabilitating the local mining evaporation ponds. This will be a positive new focus. Providing an appreciation of our heritage and strengthening our community through celebration of Indigenous and white history, pioneering families, the gold rush, the role of women, knowledge and honour local organisations that shaped our community. Children and youth will have access to new information and this will encourage them to play a role in planning for the future.

Such a significant project for a small rural community in a world where big is often seen as better.
This project is very important to the Woodvale community as it preserves our lesser known stories/ histories which are often lost to larger narratives as well as advancing the contribution of small rural communities to the larger story of central Victoria.
