Last year Woodend Kindergarten Inc and Macedon Ranges Shire Council (MRSC), in consultation with the local community, successfully prepared a Landscape Masterplan for our outdoor learning area. The Masterplan, prepared by Registered Landscape Architects, identified projects to resolve functional issues and provide opportunities for inclusive nature play, reflecting our community's needs and aspirations. Council's 2018-19 budget includes an allowance to undertake essential underground drainage works to prevent flooding. Use & Access: Kindergarten program during operational hours, community after hours. Key Activities: - Inclusive Nature-based play opportunities - Family Safe Meeting Space - Educational ~ physical, social, emotional - Sensory Garden
Woodend Kindergarten is an important community meeting place. It provides opportunities for building relationships within our community and significant learning experiences for our children and their families.
From the consultation process of the Masterplan we know that this proposal reflects our broader community's values and aesthetic - engaging with others and nature.
Implementation of the remaining Masterplan works along with Council's scheduled funded works (underground drainage) will minimise disruption to the use of the space and achieve economies of project scale.
Our Kinder Community also actively raise funds and source local business contributions towards resourcing this service and this project.
