Women's Financial Education (established in Torquay in 2016) helps empower, educate, and improve the financial literacy of women in our community. We run 1-2 hour workshops on budgeting, superannuation, insurance, investments, estate planning, debt management and eating nutritious food on a budget. Our plan is to run as many workshops as possible in our local shire, Armstrong Creek and Geelong free of charge. We would like to connect with local charities to train staff and assist their most vulnerable families with financial literacy. Our grant will include 12 public and four charity workshops.

Financial literacy, especially in women is scarce. Our valuable content is easy to understand and facilitated in small groups so women feel comfortable to discuss any questions they may have about their finances. We partner with professionals from Torquay to co-run many of our workshops so that any questions are appropriately answered by the relevant specialist. Most of our workshops are run in the evenings to accommodate working families.

With the waiting period currently up to six weeks in Geelong for a financial counsellor. This service is greatly needed in our community.
