The Jeetho community wants to maintain Jeetho’s history and recognise its significant contribution. “Where’s Jeetho” – today only a hall remains of a once thriving town, previously the hub of South Gippsland. The Jeetho hall, built in 1892, was the first shire offices. It has been extensively renovated and is regularly used.

The Hall Committee hopes to establish a community picnic area with information boards. A small shelter including history of the buildings, schools, railway and churches located near the hall’s entrance with picnic tables, and a gazebo at the rear of the hall with information regarding the hall’s history.

Our committee wants to reignite the feeling of pride in Jeetho. We have nothing to recognise the part Jeetho played in South Gippsland’s development. Information signs showing our important history will help maintain a community bond to making us feel proud of our contribution to the district. For the wider community, Jeetho has a significant story to tell. This project will promote our special place as another tourist destination.

Jeetho has no rest areas. With the addition of shelters and picnic tables, we hope to make the Jeetho hall and its immediate surrounds the hub of our community once again.

Thankyou to all who have supported our project. With the deadline this Monday, time is nearly up for the opportunity to vote, so please spend a few minutes to help us achieve our goal, and then come and join us for a picnic!

When we know where we have been, then we know where we are going. History.

Apart from it's historical significance, the location of the Jeetho hall is truly unique. With the ancient elm trees, other reminders of Jeetho's history, it would be hard to find a more relaxing and enjoyable spot for a picnic

If you haven’t yet, drive through the beautiful hills of Sth Gipps and check out this stunningly preserved Hall and picture the benefits of the proposed additional undertakings there.
It will be a such a great place for a picnic!

Thanks Kerena. We do have a little hidden treasure in the Jeetho Valley, but we don't want to keep it a secret. Hopefully this project will allow everyone to enjoy this beautiful area as well as appreciate the role small towns have played in the past.

It will not be easy choosing between such worthwhile projects within our area. Smaller communities like Jeetho are competing against far larger populations so I would encourage everyone to look beyond there immediate vicinity and also vote for this project “Where’s Jeetho?” keeping in mind the part Jeetho has played in our shire.

It is important to recognise and inform the visiting public of the history within the area...
