Wheelers Hill Primary School is rapidly growing, we have had record numbers of enrolments of new children in 2017 and 2018. We currently have a playground located in the school grounds used by the younger children (Prep, Grade 1 and 2) during school hours. This is their own special area where they can make friends and play away from the older children. The playground is currently small and has rather old and tired equipment. It really needs a makeover! We are planning to landscape the area and extend the playground to cater for more children, and add some plants.
Playing outside is a vital part of childhood that allows children to develop many skills. The playground is regularly used after school, on weekends and during school holidays by the Out of School Hours Care service and wider Wheelers Hill community. The suburb's demographics are changing and more and more families with younger children are moving to the area and use the playground. It would be great to make the playground a bigger and more attractive resource for the wider community.
