Wedderburn is the administrative centre of a district where, remarkably, two WW1 VC winners grew up - Albert Jacka, the first Australian VC winner, and Albert Borella. Jacka earned his VC in the early days of the Gallipoli campaign, and became a legend among the AIF for this and his subsequent exploits. Borella earned his VC at Villers-Bretonneux, a French village that even today proclaims "Never forget Australia". The silo portraits of these two extraordinary soldiers will be complementary to their statues in Wedderburn's Soldiers Memorial park and will be a further focal point to attract visitors to the region.

Silo Art is a boon for small town tourism - attracting national and international visitors to such regions. Wedderburn’s unique lure is to combine the attraction of giant art murals with the deep military reverence with which VC winners are held. This project will raise the profile of the district nationally and internationally - many tourists are now travelling to see silo art and the tourists need meals, fuel for their cars, places to stay and are looking for other things to do while they’re travelling, which means shops and other tourist attractions have lots of visitors.

This would be great for the Wedderburn community, both for tourism and also for historical significance.

ONE WEEK TO GO TO VOTE! Let's get behind this project Wedderburn, it will enhance tourism by putting us on the popular Silo Art Trail. Albert Borella and Albert Jacka demonstrate the qualities that make our community special; resilient, innovative, loyal and stoic.

Creative art activation is paramount to the survival of these country towns - $9.6 billion was spent in regional Victoria by tourist, I say give it a fat crack Wedderburn

The Silo Project is a great Idea no matter what or who is painted on them. They will add to the already great Silo Paintings around Victoria.

The silo project will foster community spirit, connect Wedderburn to the silo trail bringing more visitors to Wedderburn to see our beautiful town in turn this will stimulate the local economy.

I would prefer to see the silos being painted with gold hunting or something to do with gold rather than the ANZACS. I have nothing against them but he town already has two statues of them in the park so it would be better to recognise something that made Wedderburn the way it is.
