Waste Warriors Melbourne - Reducing Waste in our Local Community

It can be difficult for small businesses and charities to find the resources to investigate how to reduce waste and ensure their practices are sustainable. This project will offer advice and implementation support as a free service in Hobsons Bay, ensuring they can act now to reduce waste and operate more sustainably. This will include DIY basic kits, as well as personalised consultation and support to develop improved waste management and sustainable practices. It will also broadly distribute detailed information that will help Hobsons Bay households and the community live more sustainably and reduce their carbon footprint.

Ensuring our resources are efficiently used and waste minimised is a global concern, especially relevant in Hobsons Bay with our local bays impacted. We all benefit across the community as reducing waste provides cleaner parks, nature reserves and habitats for local wildlife while reducing the burden on finite natural resources. Successful sustainable practices can also reduce costs and improve efficiency resulting in a positive outcome for those enacting the changes and the broader community. The project will instil the waste pyramid principles: Refuse or Reduce waste with Reuse, Recycle, Recover and lastly to Dispose.
