So many events around Melbourne use disposable plastic cups and bottles, contributing to a horrible waste and pollution problem. All of us are sadly too familiar with the seas of plastic on the streets after local events. One of the biggest barriers to events replacing disposables with reusables is the lack of easily accessible washing facilities. Our solar-powered, mobile, commercial grade washing system solves that problem! We will make it available at low cost to council and community events that want to go plastic free, enabling them to easily and affordably take that vital and popular step.

The Wash Against Waste truck will facilitate a rapid transition from disposable to reusable containers. This will help local event organisers create more attractive, eco-friendly, community events for us all to enjoy. More broadly, our project will serve as a model for tackling Australia's waste crisis, leading to cleaner waterways, cleaner air, healthier wildlife, and less climate change. Plastics take over 1,000 years to biodegrade, and, as they break down, enter our waterways and our food chain. Scientists predict there’ll be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050 if we don't act quickly.

This is bloody brilliant. I can see it having a domino effect on the music industry as more and more events replace single-use items with reusable goodies.

This is the future!!

A fundamental step towards reducing (and hopefully eliminating!) plastic use at Victorian events. This initiative needs our support!
