To ensure a range of small and large communities had the opportunity to be part of Pick My Project, no more than 50 per cent of a regional partnership areas funding was awarded to one local government area (LGA). As a result this project was unsuccessful.

Access will be available to the community and tourists. Dog owners will use the park to exercise their pets and socialise with other people. There will be agility equipment for them to train their dogs if they choose. There will be events organised for the community to participate in throughout the year to showcase their dog as well. It will be totally up to the community what events they wish to have. The local dog training school will hold some fun events for kids. The park will be available all year round. Promotes healthy living. Fun for all.

Community dog parks offer spaces that facilitate community interaction helping to break down social barriers. They build trust and a sense of community. They also facilitate social interactions for newcomers, marginalised and isolated groups. They promote health and wellbeing in a community by promoting outdoor activities. They provide a community hub and focal point for community education training programs. Dog parks contribute to promoting active living and encourage physical activity. Dog parks can provide a space where dog owners can feel connected with other human beings improving their mental and emotional health. A resting spot for those travelling with pets.

Definately wanted a dog park with lovely ammenities for the fur babies. It can be added to with seating, picnic area, toilets, and lots more ideas. This can be added in years to come so it has to be a sizeable area, looking ahead

If this goes ahead a dog wadding pool included would be great
I have a lab who just loves water

Long overdue in our community. This facility has the opportunity to be much more than a dog exercise area. Add a coffee shop; healthy snacks for animal and owners; paper/mag and sales and you have a centrally located communal meeting place.

Thi is the best idea ever. I had been going to the Harris street enclosure while my Lab was still a pup but she shortly outgrew the area and there was not enough room for her to run around and play. What a great addition to Warrnambool, social not only for the dogs but for the people of the community also

Living just out of town I find I have nowhere to run my dog off leash when visiting the city. Great idea. Well overdue.

Warrnambool needs an enclosed dig park so badly. I can’t wait.

I am totally for a dog park. More than one would be even better.

I’m not a dog owner but I think it’s a fantastic idea. Just curious as to why it will cost $86,200 though.

The fencing for the area will need to be quite high and double gated and it is also in two sections. the quote for this was $40,000. its quite a good area to be fenced. there is also the plumbing for the water drinking stations that needed to be taken into consideration and other equipment. I hope this answers your enquiry.

Heaps of room @ Vic Park, I think a larger area could be used for the dog park. If you consider how much space the equipment will take up, there will not be much space left for a good run.

The area marked was a guide only. The actual size will be negotiated. Hope this helps.

Since moving here 6 years ago I've been bemused by the lack of dog park and the under utilisation of the reserve surrounding Vic Park.
Perfect location for a much needed enclosed dog park.
In my experience people travel to take their dogs to dog parks, so having one in Warrnambool could add another tourist draw card to our little region.

I think because this project will be utilised all year round and ran by the community it is the best pick. The community will take a lot of pride in this and has wanted one for many years. It will be of a lot of benefit for tourists as well.
