Portland's Waratah Crescent and its locality lacks a community focus; there being nowhere to hold meetings, gatherings, forums or workshops. The Waratah Centre is strategically located, has good space and toilets, but has a very old, small and outdated kitchen, suitable only for very small gatherings. The project would enable refurbishing and extending the kitchen.

Waratah Crescent and its locality is rapidly changing, evolving from primarily social housing to a mix of public-private ownership. However, it lacks a focal point. The upgrading of the Waratah Centre kitchen will enable community meetings, forums, workshops, community development programs and suchlike.

A new kitchen will enormously enhance the services and programs available at our Neighborhood House. The current facility is sadly lacking an efficient, fully appointed kitchen. The community will welcome the added benefit of new kitchen.

Such a worthwhile project. Would transform the building and provide useful facilities.
