The cricket nets at Walter St Reserve are open to the public all year round, with boys and girls, young and old enjoying the use of the facility.

Unfortunately, the facility is in major need of redevelopment to provide a safe and quality facility to encourage participation, with many aspects of the facility presenting safety concerns.

The project will address these such as holes in the surface, exposed concrete edges, disjointed netting, wore away astroturf and gaps between lanes, creating a open, safe and welcoming facility encouraging community participation in sporting activities.

The wider community alongside the Flemington Cricket Club, whose main training facility is the nets, will benefit from this project.

The nets are fully accessible to the community and are frequently used all year round.

Through the proposed upgrade, the facility will provide a quality and safe environment for club members and the public. The completion of the project will help to achieve a reduction of injuries for users of the facility; development of users skills; increased use of the facility; recruitment and retention of players to Flemington Cricket Club; and development of juniors and women's teams for the club.

Should be a great way to attract more women to local area sport

A very worthwhile project especially with the new housing development adjoining the ground
