By preserving the knowledge and history of our buildings and environment, from first peoples to the present time, future generations will learn about our past. We are using stories, oral histories, photographs and sound bites to document these changes in an easily accessible on-line format.
Currently we have 426 participants accessing our Facebook. As well, over 600 members of the wider community have taken part in La Trobe University and independent tours around the heritage buildings, describing the operation of Mont Park and Larundel hospitals from 1910 to 1999, as well as the modern-day repurposing of the buildings.

By encouraging the community to interact with the website and the tours, they will learn about the past, including the history and improvements in Mental Health management, as well as indigenous culture, plants and wildlife, (in particular numerous birds). By including "then and now" photographs on the website and on Facebook the changes over time are recorded and will continue to be documented. https://facebook.com/groups/198148880682094/272439113253070/ Our website is almost completed and will be released shortly to the general public. Accessibility for the local community will also be enhanced by signage and Walking History and Tour downloadable maps from the website.

Excellent idea which will help preserve and educate on the history of an area that was so instrumental in research and development in the field of mental health.

A great idea. Perfect location for a walking tour not only for it's historical and cultural significance but also its natural environment.

Our area is of historical and cultural significance
and a walking tour would be a perfect way of sharing this with the community and broader public.

This is an extremely important area of significant historical importance which is now a delightful residential area within the context of its architectural and botanical heritage.
