The Volcanoes Discovery Centre has been successfully operating for 14 years and now needs to have its exhibits renewed to maintain its value as an educational and tourist resource. The project will: bring the museum online to give direct access to volcano information worldwide, produce an educational film about the local volcanic geology and history, add an outdoor rock display to better showcase the regional geology, and showcase its extensive minerals display

The Volcanoes Discovery Centre (VDC) is located in a small town, Penshurst, in Western Victoria which lies on the direct tourist route between the Great Ocean Road and the Grampians. It is the major attraction in the town for tourists to break their journey.
The VDC is also a significant educational resource with school visits from throughout Victoria and adjoining States. Without this renewal the VDC will not be able to maintain its role as either a tourist or educational resource whereas its successful completion will raise enhance Penshurst.

As a successful tourist attraction in Penshurst for 15 years, it is time for a much needed refurbishment.

This will attract more tourist dollars to Penshurst and and the surrounding areas.

The Volcanoes Discovery Centre has been going 15 years and wants to update its facilities. Some projects we need include a theatrette and a real-time webcam from existing active volcanoes blowing their top. Outside the centre we want to create a major rock garden and recreation area for families. We need your vote to help us achieve this.

Our current visitors are surprised to see such an interesting facility in such a small town. We receive schools from as far away as Melbourne and service clubs from interstate so we are a lot more than just a local tourist attraction. We need to renew our facilities to make the VDC even more attractive to visitors.

Due to an initial error in the allocation of this project to a town and region, it has been suggested that the Volcanoes Discovery Centre might move from Penshurst. This is not the case. The VDC is an integral part of Penshurst and will not be moved away. This project will take the VDC to another level for Penshurst and the region.

The VDC is an excellent resource for volcanic tourism at the foot of the largest volcano in western Victoria, and worthy of help.

With a new volcano in western Victoria possible at any time in the next 5000 years, it's really important that the VDC has the most up-to-date information about the eruptions to inform the public.

This amazing centre brings awareness of the volcanic activity in the area.
More tourists bring more income for other businesses.
A very deserving project.

This succesful centre, run by volunteers, deserves recognition and votes.
Constantly tourists popping in for a stopover and look at this centre. More often than not, this leads to a quick drive up the beautiful Mount Rouse.
