If it gives people with disabilities an opportunity to experience joy, achievement, pride and self-worth in a communal space - something people who do not have disabilities take for granted, then it is a worthy project.

Vivid’s Community Garden will be located in Echuca. The garden will be managed and maintained by people with disabilities in conjunction with, and to benefit, the entire community.
The new community garden will offer people with disability the opportunity to learn how to cultivate, care for and harvest fresh produce, developing essential life skills in the outdoors.
The community garden will be an accessible recreational space with picnic tables and paved paths for wheelchairs.
The garden will be maintained by Vivid’s program participants and partner organisations but accessible to the whole community.
Vivid supports over 260 people with disability through a range of programs, including many focusing on growing produce and caring for the environment. The community garden will be an integral site for these programs.
Produce grown from the garden will also be used to prepare meals for vulnerable people who access the services of Echuca Neighbourhood House (people experiencing hardship and homelessness). Preparing these meals will also be part of Vivid’s suite of life skills programs.
Local businesses will assist with annual working bees and members of the public are welcome to wander through the space and assist through volunteering.
